Stranded

Stranded is a sci-fi 2D action adventure heavily inspired by Hyper Light Drifter. You play as an unnamed young woman who was left stranded on an unknown planet as a young girl after a terrible spaceship accident. The game is centered around the sword-throwing mechanic, which allows it to be returned or to be teleported to.

It was developed during my second semester in Dawson's Independent Video Game Design program (Winter 2018) in 3 weeks, with 2 other teammates and in collaboration with a sound designer of mine. I took the lead on gameplay design, character pixel art, & production/production.

Still learning the basics, this project allowed me to learn a lot about the importance of production pipeline & scope management.

 

It'll be painfully obvious that the prototype features many bugs & fairly dubious UX decisions, but we didn't have the knowledge or time to polish it as intended. It is still definitely one of my favorite work to date!
